Firstly if you are getting married to this man according to Sikh rites you have to convert to Sikh religion (if you are not a Sikh). If you don't want to change your religion you will have marry him in court under the Foreign Marriage Act,1969 applicable to Indians with a foreigner. This the legal position regarding your marriage. Now what dress is worn by bride in Indian wedding is usually red or maroon in color, white dress is worn only in Indian Christian wedding. White color dress is usually worn by only Indian Hindu(including Sikh) widows or during funerals so sorry dear in case of Sikh wedding no one will allow you to wear white dress.

Sounds as if you need to talk with your spouse to be. Your marraige is "starting off on the wrong foot" if you can't communicate with your fiance now.
If you want a "white wedding" you need to tell him...not wonder what an indian wedding is going to be like. You are making a mistake not having the kind of wedding you have dreamed of.

Not exactly sure, but my cousin was married to an Indian and he was really mean to her and beat her up and raped her whenever he wanted, because the women in that culture mean nothing. They make women ride in the back of trucks and have goats in the front seats instead. You are putting yourself back in time before women had any rights or were respected at all. Women are meant to be seen not heard-no opinions or demands. She was really happy during the courtship but after they got married and he got her to India, it all changed-he was not nice anymore or charming and it turned out he had 2 other wives. Just be careful, I would never wish that upon anyone. Good luck-I hope this helps.

I've been to an Indian wedding once. It's was so cool! It's all colorful. My friend's wedding dress was an Indian-styled dress but all white (western-eastern combination). Her hand was painted. There was a lot of dancing and food.

You're the bride, you get to say what will happen at your wedding. Is this going to be your life now, you just show up and everyone does whatever they want to you?

In the nicest way -If you lack that much knowledge about your mans culture you really should put off getting married for a while.
