I have worked for my present employer for 4 days and a better opportunity has come along and I'm quitting. My present employer never took my tax information, a copy of my social security card or a copy of my drivers license... What does this mean? Will I still be taxed?

Your employer may not deduct if you make below I think its like $500 or so. I'd be more worried about getting my money than if they will deduct taxes.


Just because they don't deduct them doesn't mean you don't owe them. If you don't pay them the end of the year and you get audited and you did owe taxes, YOU could get dinged, not (just) your employer.

In addition to all the very good information about taxes (your responsibility, ultimately) and ensuring you actually collect the wages you earned in those four days, the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) does require all employers to document employees' eligibility to work in the United States by completing an I-9 Form. This requires an employer to collect/verify that 1) you are who you say you are, and 2) that you are eligible to work in the US. Some documents, such as a passport, do both of these functions at once. If you don't have a passport, you can provide proof of identity with a government-issued photo ID (like a driver's license) and proof of eligibility to work with something like a social security card. If an employer does not collect this information and fill out an I-9 on every employee, he/she can be fined as much as $200 per missing I-9 if the violation is considered willful, etc. To tell you the truth, though, this has never been a big priority for ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to pursue.....

Your employer can not contact for any change in or to your health plan or retirement benefits,also if you have any back pay or other types of monotary benefits coming to you.Also if you are being called back to work because of any changes that have taken place concerning you position at your former employer.
You also may be eligible for retraining for a new position.

he can't pay you. You have to make so much to have to pay fed taxes but even with 4 days he is still req to take out state taxes and FICA on you..that's taken out if you only work 1 day (always was on me)..he doesn't need your DL unless it's your SSN..

he can't pay you without a ssn. dl is not needed by an employer except in certain circumstances requiring it.
