no, I have a tivo and it actually makes me watch less tv because I'm so used to fast forwarding through commercials that when there isn't anything recorded that I want to watch I go do something else rather than sit through commercials.

I think DVR's like Tivo can cause you to watch more TV because t is recording all your favorite TV shows, which means you always have something to watch TV. Usually, when somebody can't find anything to watch, they will go do something else like house chores. :-) Also, with DVR's, you can fast forward through the commercials, so you are going through shows in 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

I personally just got a DVR and I love it. I work a lot of hours and only get Sundays off. Most times on Sunday I'm stuck watching football with my boyfriend or old movies Ive seen forty times. Now I am able to catch up on the shows i missed during the week (boyfriend watches football on other TV now) and not feel like I'm missing anything. O and all the other features like pause fast forward rewind..etc etc...it doesn't get any better than that. If I miss something...*poof*..rewind...Pee break...*poof* pause. Feel sleepy...poof...watch it later. Commercial that grates on my nerves every time I see it...*poof*....Fast forward. It really doesn't get any better than that. As far as making you watch more TV...I would imagine someone who already does watch too much will continue to do so with a lot more comfort. To each his own. For me it's an excellent way for me to still have a treat for myself on the weekends.

No, because then you can be sure to go out and do things because you know you can come home and watch whatever show you missed when you actually have nothing to do. And you can fast forward through the commercials and actually get to watch the show, so you're spending less time watching tv.
