This may sound strange, but humans do make life harder on themselves. There is always this continuous cycle where one generation works to benefit the next. The enjoyment we get is everything that comes in the process. But if we were to ease it up on ourselves, we would all have better lives. The standard of living would be exponentially better. Whats the rush to increase knowledge about technology? Every human being should be able to enjoy life, and if that means slower technological and social transformations, doesnt the former outweight the latter?

I am a proponent of technology, but I think that a slower technological surge would inevitably help many peoples lives around the globe. Whats the rush to advance technology?

Exactly all these gadgets that are supposed to make life easier are just adding so much confusion .Build a car to get somewhere faster then you have all the maintenance etc. Same with everything if the electricity were to suddenly go out all over what would every body do ?

If everyone in the world would shift gears and ease up, it could work out like you say. The way everyone in the world is at this point though, I'm afraid we wouldn't make it if we slowed down. It's so high tech now that the ones that stopped trying to push the envelope would get left behind.. I agree with you 100% on the fact we need to slow down and just enjoy life. It is passing by so fast that I feel sometimes that I've missed things. One day though, it will be the way you are wanting it to be. We all will be happy and live a life that's peace full and calm. I truly believe this and without that faith, I don't know if I could go on.

We humans are a diverse lot, & we have different ideas about enjoying life. Most of it consequences of our individual choices.

Those who create technology are in a race with each other to excel in their field - and technology that actually comes into deployment in the public sphere only does so as some demand for it exists.

I don't see how that natural process can be slowed down, & do not see an obvious corelation as to how, slowing down technology would raise standards of living for us.

Yes, many many wise beings have been time and again emphasizing on this... but the logical mind, being ever hyper-active, seeks to 'improve' things, and end up making life complex, and then complicated. Only a balance between the intuition (manifest form known as emotions) and the logical aspect of mind can ensure the arrest of unwanted mad pace of technological advancement.

The ultimate tragedy of the human condition is wanting. Because we want we continually strive for more even when we obviously should be satisfied. I am not a Buddhist, but man did that cat know what he was talking about.

Because technology symbolizes future, challenge and the challenge to reach a good future has always been complicated even hard.

To me, it just seems like a combination of over thinking, influences by others and uncontrolled emotions that get in the way of everything...making things difficult/causing rash decisions!

It is our nature to complicate our lives. It is our ego.

To me, ego stands for Edging God Out.

A complicated life is a life without God. It is a life spent chasing the temporal satisfactions.

Because man is a complicated species..... Reason being he is who is referred to in all of life's facets as having the ability to reason with God.....

What makes man so complicated is that reasoning..... for in him is that image of God which he has not come to terms.... and has taken it for granted because it is something he cannot see.....

Yet, among men, man has not learned to get along with his own kind in which he can see with his own two eyes........
