If you want to lean English, think in English

In the evening think about all the day you spent and how, (this should be in English). Prapare a programm for tomorrow in English.
Talk to yourself, your friends, brothers, sisters, father, mother and family, when they ask a question reply in English first and then translate the same to him in your own language, Talk even to your pets, trees, building things of daily use in English (e.g: come here my shoe, today you will be going with me to the market and than university, there I will be studying and you rest etc)

This looks funny but it helps very much.

This way you will learn all the daily use English in 1 month. During the 2nd month you will feel lot better in English and at the end of 3rd month you will very confident. At the end of 4th month I am sure you will speak excellent English.

The best ways to learn spoken english at home i think is by communicating orally in good spoken english with all those who are in the home with you.Another method is through songs, In this way even the kids around you will want to join you in singing and by doing so they perfect themselves in spoken english. self learning is the best way of learning english. you should have a conversation with your family in english, even if you are speaking wrong also you keep on speaking in english, you may have some group discussion with your family members or with your friends. and also you keep on reading books regularly, and you read english news papers daily and note the words you cont understand and refer it from dictionary. ok these are all my own experience this is effective, you also try this and all the best for you.

to get teaching from a english teacher who should know english very good and can speak to.Read the newspapers and try to use some of the words while u speak,write down ,topic does not matters,try some good books written by some good writer,like miltons play,shakespeare's etc.Try to talk as much as you can in english.

make her learn english.. this is america!! (okay, i know i'm gonna get all thumbs down for that one, but i don't care!!!!) i would recommend that you enroll in a spanish class at your local community college.. but since you said that that's not really an option for you, you should try the spanish for dummies or some kind of computer program that teaches spanish.. to truly be fluent, you really need to immerse yourself in the language.. have your girl talk to you all the time in spanish and help you out with what things mean.. maybe you can teach her english at the same time!!!!

We have to speak English loudly, seat in front of mirror and than read any English document. watch English channel and try to understand speech and then try to speck that line in our style. Always do conversation with whom who knows English because the person who knows English can find out mistakes from English and guide you to write and speck good English.

Read English novels and other books in the English language...I have given this advice to others too and it has shown results...
But do not stick to one book...try to read as many books as possible - keep a dictionary handy if required...
