there is no activation fee. there is a pre-paid starter kit that is for FREE if you purchase one of there phones. if you bring your own phone then you have to buy the kit it is 24.99 plus tax. but basically how the whole "best value option" goes is... it is a dollar a day for the days you use your phone. if you don't use the phone no dollar. this is an access fee to the cingular network, next is if you call w/in the cingular network then it is for FREE, and if you call out of network for example a land line phone or someone who doesn't have cigular as there cellphone provider then it is .10 cents per minute. right now cingular is running a promo w/ there minutes that you buy, if you buy $100 pin card you get $5 free and w/ that start kit you get $10 worth of air time. the $100 pin is good for one year assuming that you don't use all of it and if you replenish @ the 365 day mark your previous balance will roll over to the next grace period. any cingular corporate owned location will be able to answer any more of your questions. good luck i hope this was informative.

$0 activation!!!! Verizon charges? Thats BS!

Also, The dollar is only on days you use the phone, unlike Verizon where it is every day.

Yes there is an activation fee, which includes starter airtime ($10.00 worth, I believe).
