How do I defeat the ghost, at Pokemon Tower(blue version)?

Question

So far I have reached Lavender Town and just need help defeating the Ghost that haunts the place. Also, Do I need to catch an ghost type pokemon in order to defeat it?

You need the Sylph Scope from Saffron City.

Also, Psychic is super effective against Ghost which you can get from the bottom right house in Saffron. Teach it to a Kadabra.

Did you get the Silph Slope? If not, you need to get it. Head to Celadon City and go to the game corner. You'll see a poster, and if you click the A button, it will ask you to open a switch. Go in, get through the maze, and defeat Giovanni to get the scope.

If you've already gotten it, use it! If you need help, though, fire and psychic types are effective against the poison type of ghost pokemon, and a water or grass pokemon is sufficient for the Cubones.

That game came out 8 years ago, i sure hope it didnt take you 8 years to get to lavender town cause if yeah, the journey wasn't worth it.

you need the silph scope, and you just need to have a flying type since that ghost will be marowak at level 30 and you can't catch it

beat sliph co in saffron town, then get the silph scope
youll also be a ble to see normal ghosts.

you need to get a some type of scope from team rocket in (don't know if its celadon or saffron) city...

you have to beat Giovani there and you will find it... i'm basing this on pokemon yellow...
