I just bought one for my little sister because I've tried to teach her the real way to knit but she can't do it but I was wondering if it would be possible to knit something straight on it.

Yes. When you go around the loom and get to where you started, reverse directions and go back the way you came. Then just keep going back and forth. You don't even have to go all the way around the hoop. You can go half way or just a few pegs. Just keep knitting back and forth.

Yes, go to provocraft.com. There are patterns for the knifty knitter for making flat scarves. I have even made shawls and ponchos using the flat technique on the knifty knitter. Have fun and be creative
