Midsummer nights dream project?

Only answer if you have read the book.

We have to as a group rewrite the play-within-the-play of Pyramus and Thisbe and it has to be funny. also, we have to choose a theme. My group chose that we are drunk and drug addicts.

If you have any ideas how to do the play, can you answer this queation please......

The play-within-a-play is funny and extremely accessible as Shakespeare wrote it, but - meh - an assignment's an assignment. That said, I have to agree that drunks and addicts are really not that funny - whether you're in high school or not. All I can suggest is that you try writing the scene, line-for-line in your own words (or the words of your proposed characters) and then rehearse acting it out, being open to new improvisations that may inform your script. I'm not sure that your teacher will think drugs and drinking in school is funny . What about as computer geeks IMing about their love online or like two celebrities (Brad & Angelina) or using stuffed animals as puppets to reinact the scene? The funny part about the original is the cross-dressing, so make sure to have a male stuffed animal play Thisbe in drag

You need to do your own project. That said, this is the best Shakespeare play for adaptations. I've seen it turned into a Franco-American play ("Mais Oui" instead of "Marry"), a gay play, a modern day sit com, just about anything. So there's no reason you couldn't do drunks and druggies. Just read through the scene and think how you would change their language to match your new characters, while still keeping the humor of the scene. For instance, your characters could be trying to make a movie instead of a play.

I agree on the drugs and drunk theme. Toss it. The IM thing sounds really cool.
