You will be just fine with a 3.4. Admission committies for MSW programs are just as interested in what kinds of activities you have participated in that confront issues of diversity, marginalized communities, etc.as they are in your grades. If getting into an MSW program is your goal, I suggest focusing on volunteer/advocacy opportunities at this point. Your GPA - even if it ends up being a 3.4 - is certainly high enough to get you into most MSW programs.
But to answer your question... I assume you got a 2.4 in some kind of history class??? I don't know what a 2.4 is - a C+? Most C plusses are a 2.3... Either way, check with your school's policy on grade replacement. The undergrad school I attended only let students make up/replace F grades, not Cs.
Really, I wouldn't worry about it either way. Look at the admissions criteria for the schools you're interested in applying to for the MSW degree. They likely require only a 3.0 to get in. Some even require only a 2.5.

You don't indicate what MSW program you are trying to get into (some are more competive than others. Your GPA in general will be fine..however you will want to have a solid essay, good references, and hopfully you have some good experience in the human services. Most grad schools look at all of these. So with a 3.4 if you are a traditional age student and have not done much in the human services and right an average essay..you might not get in. If you have the same GPA but have worked for the last 5 years doing something in the human services, or traveled and worked overseas with an impoverished community and write a wonderful essay that really tell why you are interested in social work (and it fits the schools stated mission). You will do fine.

Grad schools look at way more than just your GPA - there are GRE scores and extra activities and the types of classes you took and the essay for your application... They are interested in the big picture, in how well they think you will do in the future and not so much how well you did in one semester in the past. I wouldn't bother redoing the history; it probably wouldn't be worth it. Spend that extra time and energy into making your application awesome!
Good luck!

Grad programs require a 3.0 gpa. So as long as you have that, you can get in. Also, your main focus should be the GRE or GMAT. Find out which test your program requires and start taking practice tests for it. If you score in the 90th percentile on either of those tests, you are guaranteed to get into a graduate program. I am going to be taking both of those tests this year to see which one I score better on. Good luck to you.

I would look at the application brochures of the places you are thinking of going to. They normally publish cut-offs they require for their applicants. If things still aren't clear, I would maybe talk to some staff/faculty at these institutions. They would probably be able to give you better direction. Sometimes retaking classes is a good option...if going into social work is your dream, keep at it and don't give up!

You'll be fine. A monkey could get into grad school. Especially for social work.

The most competitive grad programs are law and medicine. Even then, you can still get in with the GPA you have. Just make sure you focus on your strengths on your application...be sure your application essay is perfect. GPA isn't everything; it just helps to get your foot in the door.
