5x+t=17
t = 17-5x and if u need value to t,plug in values for x..
x = 17-t/5
if u need value to x,plug in values for t..
if u have two eqns,u can solve by substitutuion,elimination,cross multiplication methods..
hope this helps..

Solution: x = 1, y = 1 Proof: 3x + y = 4 (equation 1) Rearranging this equation: y = 4 - 3x - 2x - 10y = - 12 (equation 2) Multiplying both sides of this equation by -1: 2x + 10y = 12 (equation 3) Substitute equation 1 into equation 3: 2x + 10*(4 - 3x) = 12 Expanding this equation: 2x + 40 - 30x = 12 Rearranging and simplifying this equation: 2x - 30x = 12 - 40 - 28x = - 28 x = 1 Substituting this result in to equation 1: y = 4 - (3 * 1) = 1 Thus the soultion to these simultaneous equations is as follows: x = 1, y = 1

What are you solving for? If you are solving a parametric equation in terms of t then you probably have a system of equations. In that case, t=17-5x and this can be used to solve the remainder of the system.

ok first of all remember the slope intercept form because this is a linear equation. The slope intercept form is y=mx+b. Then just rewrite the original equation into this form which is gonna be t=5x-17.

t= - 5x + 17
draw a linear graph and look a touch point at x axes for the value of x and at y axis for the value of t

THE BASIC INFORMATION REQD IN SOLVING A SYSTEM OF LINEAR EQNS IS:
IF THERE ARE 2 UNKNOWNS THEN WE NEED TWO EQNS TO ARRIVE AT A UNIQUE SOLUTION.
WE CAN USE THE METHOD OF CROSS MULTIPLICATION OR CRAMERS RULE OR SUBSTITUTION METHOD TO FIND THE VALUES. THJERE ARE MANY OTHER METHODS AS WELL.

FOR EXAMPLE:

A*X+B*Y=Z
P*X+Q*Y=R

IN SUCH A CASE:

X=(Z*Q+B*P)/(A*Q+B*P)
Y=(A*R+Z*P)/(A*Q+B*P)

IN THE QUES YOU GAVE ABOVE ,
X WILL TAKE VALUES OF THE FORM (17-t)/5 DEPENDING ON THE DIFFERENT VALUES OF t

5x+t=17 .....

There are two variables. We need at least two equations to solve these two variables. We need the number of equations as many as the number of variables. And, follow elimination method to resolve those equations.
