I need a quick list of people who have ( in the past ) tried to find immortality. Dates would be nice also. I've tried to look at different websites, but all of them are not working. Thanks a lot : )

I think Juan Ponce de Leon is a famous example. (1460?-1521)

Ponce de Leon wasn't actually looking for the fountain of youth, though- just a legend.

Chinese legends hold that Emperor Yi was rewarded with the elixir of life but his wife Chang-er took the draught instead and became an immortal lady of the moon.

Ted Williams is a more recent and realistic example. His body was placed in cryonic suspension in following his death in 2002. The only reason for doing this is to be revived at a future date once death and disease have been eradicated.

More successful candidates will inculde Enoch who walked with God about 900 years and then was no more, and Elijah, who like Enoch, did not suffer bodily death, but was whisked to heaven on chariots of fire. To be fair, I doubt if either of them were actively seeking immortality.
