How have you so quickly forgotten?

After the attacks of 11 September 2001, President Bush addressed a joint session of the United States Congress, which was televised throughout the nation and the world.

President Bush said this war would be a long one, probably with no end in sight, and that it would be a global war, involving many, if not all nations.

Much of the war would be secret, and there would be many heroes whom we would never know about because their deeds had to be kept secret.

Why are we in Iraq?

I don't know, but I can speculate.

It's an excellent central location for staging any future military operations against other countries in that region?

Could it be to prevent a regional nuclear holocaust, involving Israel, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, with the resulting radioactive cloud eventually enveloping the continental United States?

Or maybe there's more to this global war on terrorism than is publicized?

Maybe there's an unending covert war of survival for Christians and Jews, since Islam teaches that all Christians and Jews must be killed?

Take your pick.

The answer could be any of those or even a combination of them.

By the way, weapons of mass destruction HAVE been found.

Don't you watch the news?

That's old stuff, reported way back, with the Iraqi weapons traced to Libya, Syria, and Egypt, where Iraq had hidden them.

A Libyan ship brought some to the United States for disposal.

Also, since a lot of information is classified, how do you know that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of 11 September 2001?

Who are you to make that judgement?

What level of security clearance do you hold, and are you on the "Need To Know" list?

Just think about it.

The U.S. is going after dictators (in Panama, Lybia, The Philippines, Iraq, Afganistan, etc.), but it's an ongoing process. Except for Cuba, there is no dictatorships in the Americas, and none in Europe either. In 50 years there probably won't be anymore dictators.

WMD were found. You need to watch CSPAN more. The administration also put Saddam's blueprints on nuclear bomb making on the web, but critics feared it was too accurate and so the administration took the notes off.

Iraq was an ongoing problem since the early 90s with Kuwait. You do remember when they invaded Kuwait don't you? Even Clinton said Iraq had WMD and was attacking Iraq. The Shiites, Iraq's neighbors and Israel wanted Saddam out and that happened.

Why I help the war in iraq... Saddam Hussein funded terrorists who needed to injury the united states and our allies. we are at war against islamic terrorists international huge. Any government that aides terrorists we ought to consistently take out... i don't understand why it relatively is so confusing for persons to understand... Now i do no longer help how we fought the war, there are a number of stuff i might have performed in any different case, in spite of the shown fact that the main serious element is, that we've been given rid of a regime that supported our enemies, and replaced into our enemy. Do you help our enemies???

Do you mean why did we go, or why are we still there. I see these as two different questions.

I think we are still there because it would be inhumane to leave Iraq in the middle of a civil war, with the radical Islamic vultures lurking around to pick over the bones. Americans typically try to be humane. It's why we are the world's greatest givers.

I think we went there for the reasons we were given. Whether WMD's were ultimately found to me is irrelevant. We believed they were there, and we acted.

If radical Islam turns in to the world threat it looks like it may, we will be glad to have a presence in the ME.

I do not support the war and never did but can only assume that the only reason that those that do support it would think that staying to control the oil would be a reason. After all of the lives, American as well as Iraqui, this has not been worth it.

The war in Iraq is just one front on the relgious war declared on the West by fundamentalist Islamic radicals.

They have attacked us on our soil...we responded on part of their soil. Our response could have been anywhere fundamentalist Islamists are located...but for many reasons, we chose Iraq.

Make no mistake - the fundamental Islamists want us either dead or converted, preferably dead. They see all things non-Muslim as corrupt and decadent, deserving of nothing less than cleansing via conversion, or eliminated by death and destruction.

We love oil baby! More oil = more SUVs! Also, more greenhouse gases = better weather in Ohio and Alaska.
