My brother came up to me earlier, saying that he was told by his friend that white people are born with this problem that prevents them from catching onto the beats in music, therefore making them naturally bad at dancing. His friend said it was statistically proven and he found sources for it.

I'm not saying I agree with my brother's friend entirely, but I just want to find out from people if they heard of such problem?

Someone asked me what type of music I'm referring to...

Well I'm talking about dance club-type of music.

No, that is most definitely NOT true. I am a very, very good dancer. A knee injury in the Marine Corps some 25 years ago prevented me from a career in professional dance, however black women have paid me to teach them how to dance.

TA DA!!

And my mother was a very good dancer as well. Perhaps the ability is genetic but it most certainly is not based on race.

Peace.

Hmmm...coming from a family of seven brothers and sisters, I was the one "black" sibling that was not born with the natural ability to "shake a tail feather" (as was the term back when my parents were partying). I think that this is a talent given in some and not others (of which I was, the latter). So, please don't think that just some white people can't dance. You go to enough clubs, you will find some black people that can't dance either.

properly shall we merely say African individuals or ninety 9% of Black human beings have soul rhythm and would seize a beat with little or no attempt, yet it isn't any longer to assert all white human beings cant dance it merely would take more beneficial attempt and for some dancing to comes organic inspect Shakira she is surprising even in spite of the undeniable fact that she is from Columbia!

Which type of dance are you specifically referring to? Which type of music? There are many variations to your question.

A waltz is not high on the beat list, heck most of the time it has no beat. But most of the people stereotypically speaking that dance the waltz are white.

Folk-dance, white mostly

Hip-hop, intermixed

Salsa, Tango, mostly Hispanic

White people are good at the dances they like. But as far as the dances they don't like, they don't even try to learn them. Same goes for all other races and cultures.

Not true, lol. We can dance as well as any race. Balance and rhythm are not tied to race. If anything, that's inherent, much like having hair and teeth. Its just an act the brain and your ears perform. Naturally occuring in nature, having nothing to do with the race, just the human form in general.

This "statistical" evidence just doesn't add up. There are individuals who are naturally not good dancers, but to say that it is attatched to race..!? No way.

But black people may be better in sports/athletics simply because of their physical stature (they are the tallest race)--basketball players need to be tall--therefore, more black people can dunk easier, since more black people are taller.

But this "white people can't dance" has no factors attached to it...

Well, when you take into account that black people can kick our *** when it comes to dancing, your brother may be on to something.

The best white dancers have had to practice for quite some time, whereas black people just start grooving with style straight away. Half their luck!

Thats about as rediculous as the falacy: "Black people are naturally unable to judge distance"

How many top black ballet dancers do you see in comparison to white?

Ofcourse, culturally certain people will respond easier to certain rythms and styles - but blanket saying that 'white people can't dance' is rediculous.

Actually i know that dancing had nothing to do with genes or races/ethnicities. but a lot of my white friend genuinely CANNOT dance...i have no idea what the matter is, but they just cant do it.

it is true, most bad dancers are white and asians. they have no ear for beats so they naturally dance off beat. Conduct a study of 5 white kids and 5 white ones and see who has the most rhythm.
