I have very oily skin. Eye makeup, expecially mascara and eyeliner always gets smudged after a few hours of wearing. It still happens even with the waterproof ones. I live in Malaysia and it is really hot and humid out here and i think the weather and my skin type is making my eyemakeup melt. What type of eyemakeup do you recommend and how do I apply it so that it stays where it should throughout the day?

Loose powder is the key to keeping makeup on all day. Make sure you wash your face just before applying your makeup.

With a large, soft makeup brush apply the loose powder all over your face, including your eyelids. Apply makeup and lightly brush powder again to set the makup.

Stick with powdered eyeshadows as opposed to the creams. A great trick to keep eyeshadow on is to use a damp eyeshadow brush and apply a layer of face powder to your lids and allow to dry/set, the shadow will stay in place for the day and it only takes a few seconds longer but well worth it.

They also make a primer for eyes. It acts as a barrier between your skin and the cosmetic. Makeup normally seeps into your pores throughout the day and this primer gives the liner/makeup something to hold onto instead of melting away. A liquid liner applied with a fine brush will stay on the best.

Liquid eyeliner should only be used above the top lashes. It is best to use a pencil or eyeshadow under the lower lashes. You can also use a colored kohl pencil above and below lashes and follow with a black liquid liner on the top. It will make your lashes appear darker and will stay on all day. Eyeliner should be applied very close to the base of the eyelashes.

You need to use SMUDGEPROOF (not waterproof) mascara. I use Lancome's Fatale mascara. It is FABULOUS! It's about $22 but so worth it. You only need to apply one coat, it doesn't melt and stays on all day. Another alternative is a clear mascara. You will still get the long, lush lashes but without the color..there is nothing to give you "black raccoon eyes" during the day.

For your lips try lip glosses or tints, which are quite sticky and won't even threaten to run. Today's glosses aren't just a shiny mess unless you buy the cheap, oozing kind.

Buy some makeup blotters too. They aren't just for lipstick. Throughout the day when you feel your face becoming oily, just take out a blotter and dab it lightly on your face to soak up the excess oils to keep your face looking fresh.

In the morning, after your wash your face, before you put on any skin care product and your make up. Use ice towel (soak your towel with ice cube and water) to cover your face for couple mins, especially around your T-zone. This step will close your pores and control the grease. and you can repeat this steps after you put your skin care before the make up.

And pad on a lot of toner if your have really oily skin, you should use gel, or liquid moisture instead of lotion. These two steps will help your pore gets enough water so that your skin won't produce unwanted grease to try product your skin. Don't put on another layer of product before the skin absorbs it. Repeat step one if you have extremely oily skin. Then you can put on your make up.

If you wanna skip step one, I would use some tissue or oily blotting paper to press (not rub, or wipe, just gently press) on my face and eye area one more time just to take away some unabsorbed skin care.

Now to the eye makeup
After you put on eyeliner, use swab to sweep your eyelashes back and forth and put on some loose powder around your eye area, than use an angle brush to trace your eye lines again, and this is going to make your eyeliner very soft and nature and more waterproof.

For mascara, I know no matter how much water proof they are, they all always get smudged at the end of the day. I recommend any L'Oreal's waterproof mascara, they can at least last for up to 5 hours, and if you have to wear it all day, and there is this " Top Coat" mascara, (it's a blue tube and from Shishedo, but you can only find it in the drug store like Watson's, do you have watson's in Malaysia, HK and Taiwan does) and that is a waterproof coat you can put on after regular mascara.

But again, no matter how waterproof they are, in a humid weather like SE Asia, nothing can last all day, you should always carry some swabs with you, and try to clean your dark circle whenever you use restroom...that's how I do it, but the steps that I told you really work...coz' I'm from Taiwan.

Sorry about long answer, but good luck

I recommend liquid eyeliner. apply it just like a pencil, just make sure that you paint the line as close to the lashline as possible so that you don't see skin between the lash line and the eyeliner. That's the worst. It takes a little practice but after you get it it's a breeze.

I hope this helps.

Before you apply you makeup, cleanse your skin thoroughly. When it's put on, don't touch your face--to avoid smudging. But since the weather is that incooperative, maybe you should go with the natural look.

For an eyeshadow, use more of a powder substance. Before you apply your eyeshadow you should put a base coat of loose powder over your lid to help lock in the shadow, eyeliner, and everything else.
