The most important part of marriage is trust and communication. You should always be able to tell your spouse how you feel, express your emotions without having to be restricted. Your spouse is like your best friend. I agree that you should never take that other person for granted. I know sometimes its hard with our busy schedules but we always have to make time for our loved one. Life is too short and you never know what may happen tomorrow. You dont want to left with all the if I would have this and that. Always be supportive of each others goals/ambitions. I havent been married too long so thats all i can say so far. Happy Holidays.

Lots of understanding on both parts. Open commutations and no secrets. Taking the time to just be with each other, even when there is just nothing to do. Trusting, loving, helping each other.

Each marriage has it's own secrets for success, but in general, I have found that these are the consistence qualities.

Good communication. Even w/the open communication we have we still have had our breakdowns and had to work through them. I can tell my husband anything and we have a trusting relationship. He does not hold me back when it comes to having guy friends or either do I w/him having girl friends. We truly love each other and give each other the respect one deserves.

To keep my marriage "going", I try to at least one thing nice for my husband every day. Nice in your relationship will be different than what it is in mine, but I do things to show him that he is important, valued and respected. It is also usually sacrificial - like cooking dinner for him when it would be so much easier for me to pick up take out. Do for him whatever it is he will appreciate that you are doing because you love him, not because you'll get something out of it.

Also, say "I love you" and give affective touches (hugs, kisses, etc.) everyday, and never go to bed angry. Say your sorry when you're wrong, and forgive your husband when he makes mistakes.

I highly recommend reading the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. It will give you some ways to show your love to your husband and keep it working.

Communication. The problem is most people don't understand what real communication is. Real communication is when the thoughts in one person's head are formed in another person's head. This means that the woman has to actually say what she wants instead of expecting him to guess, and conversely the man has to listen to what's said instead of trying to over interpret. If the woman starts expecting telepathy and the man starts interpreting code, then it's not communication.

Separate bedrooms...LOL kidding...We have trust and communicate well, we make a good team...We are together when needed but also give space to do our own things. We tell each other and show each other we love one another.
To keep it from breaking down...We do not go shopping together.

Honesty! I tell my woman everything and we talk about everything. Lack of communication is the number one reason for divorce. Number two is that there is lots of money to gain or not enough money to live. If you are scared to tell you woman something you dont belong together.
