When the Wii came out a company called Interlink who makes computer products is suing Nintendo because the wii-mote is infringeing on their patent of a a electronic pointing device with a trigger button. The patent was filed back in 1997 but years before that video game companys has made accessories that are electronic pointing device with a trigger button as far back as the 80's. They are also suing Nintendo because the wii-mote looks and works somewhat like one of there products. I think this nothing but joke but it's true. But I want to know what you think too so reply away.

Nintendo will win any lawsuit of this type. They got lots of money, and can hire the best lawyers.

Nintendo have been involved in more than 20 lawsuits ever since they started making video games so this does not surprise me. Sometimes they have had spectacular wins, like when a film company (I think it was MCN) sued them over the arcade Donkey Kong game. MCN decided that the game infringed the long lost copyright to King Kong. Everyong thought MCN were going to win, but Nintendo won. Not only was MCN's claim rejected, but Nintendo's lawer (Called John Kirby) was able to prove that MCN didn't own the copyrights to king kong. As a result, MCN had to pay $1.8 million in damages to Nintendo.

Sometimes they have had losses. Nintendo were once sued by the entire New York state, who accused them of monopolising. Nintendo lost the case and had to give out a total of $250 million in coupons to people who had bought thre SNES at the time.

I'm not sure who will win this particular lawsuit, but nintendo were involved in a similar lawsuit before, only that they were the ones prosecuting. They had released an arcade control pad for the SNES, but then a company called Camerica released a wireless arcade control pad that looked almost exactly like nintendo's own. Nintendo won that, but I'm not sure of what happened after that.

All we can do is wait and see what will happen with this particular case.
