You have what is called Selachophobia- Fear of sharks. The only way to make it go away (if you don't want to avoid anything shark related for the rest of your life) is to slowly desensitize yourself to it. Force yourself to look at a picture of a shark (even if only for a second). Then the next time, make yourself look at it for a longer period of time, and keep doing that until you are able to look at a shark without looking away. Eventually, you will not feel distress when looking at or thinking about sharks.

It will be a hard thing to do, but it will help you with this fear.

Good luck!

A phobia is an irrational fear and being afraid of sharks is not irrational because there is every reason to fear them if you are in their environment. However the fear of a picture of a shark is taking it a bit too far. Why don't you try reading about them and learning that most of them are harmless. Lets face it all you have to do to avoid sharks is to stay out of the sea.

Selachophobia - the scientific name for an abnormal and persistent fear of sharks. Selachophobia can be professionally treated in the same way as other irrational fears of things, such as flying or spiders, although finding the right approach for an individual can be difficult. Hypnotherapy, behavioural therapy and medication have all been used successfully.

Selachophobia
trust me, we are a bigger threat to sharks than they are to us.
but as to how to cure it, it takes therapy.

It seems to be a healthy, rational fear, why would you want to get rid of it?
