I'm not going to do your homework for you, but I will explain to you what to do.

Say you have A B/C, where A is a whole number...and you want to find the sum of that amount with D E/F, you have to changed these mixed fractions (whole number with fraction) into improper fractions (fractions where the numerator is greater than the denominator). When you add fractions, you need to have the denominators equal to each other. Find a common multiple between C and F. Lets call that common multiple P...and to change a mixed fraction into an improper fraction, find the product between the denominator and the whole number, and then add that amount to the numerator.

A B/C + D E/F = (AC+B)/C + (DF+E)/F See how?

Assuming that (C,F)=1 (relatively prime)...then

[(AC+B)G]/(GC) + [(DF+E)H]/(FH) , where G*C and F*H equals P, the common multiple.

= [(AC+B)G+(DF+E)H]/P and if the numerator happens to be greater than P, then just divided the numerator by the denominator. The quotient is the whole number and the remainder is the numerator. P stays as the denominator. If the numerator and the denominator have a common factor, you can divide top and bottom by that factor and have a more simplified, but yet equivalent, version of that fraction.

For #5, when you have a decimal, say 1.2...it's fractional form is 1 2/10 or 1 1/5 simplified. You read it as "one and two tenths" (tens, ones, tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc), and you write it the same way you read it.

Well, first you have to make 5/6 the same as 7/9 so 9 and 6 both go into 54 to get 54 i multiplied 6*9 so i do the same thing for the numerator (5*9) so instead of 5 5/6 it would become into 5 45/54 So 2 7/9 would equal to 2 42/54. So, 5 45/54 - 2 42/54= 3 3/54 and that's your answer. Do the Same steps for question 2. Question 3 = 2 3/4. Question 4, this one is easy 3/8 and 3/4 have to have the same denominator so we yust multiply 3/4 by 2 getting 6/8. So, 25 3/8 + 2 6/8 = 28 1/8. First of all you have to the decimal into a fraction so it would be 7 8/10 then we have to make both denominators equal so 7 8/10 would be 7 64/80 and 4 5/8 would be 4 50/80. So,
7 64/80 + 4 5/80 = 11 68/80.
I hope I was able to help you
Chao.

1) 5 15/18 - 2 14/18= 3 1/18

2)4 10/14 +3 7/14= 1 3/14

3) 5 3/4 - 3 = 2 3/4

4) 25 3/8 + 2 6/8 = 27 9/8= 28 1/8

5) 4 5/8 + 7 8/10= 4 25/40 + 7 32/40 = 11 57/40= 12 17/40
