all the time! i use to be pro at stealing from stores. little usb flashdrives and networking hardware.
dont wanna buy shoes? try them on and run out. works all the time!
but the moral of this story is dont steal, california has a law saying stores can fine you for items, damage, and just for the hell of it. $60 network card got me a lovely $356 fine from target for a restocking fee. the law system also can fine you, maybe give you cell time and probation, i got 6 months informal for that one.

As a kid, because I wanted stuff I couldn't afford, or just didn't want to spend the money. Somehow straightened out, though, thankfully.
