x^2-6x+x-6
x(x-6)+1(x-6)

x^2 - 5x - 6 = x^2 + x - 6x -6 = x(x+1)-6(x+1) = (x+1)(x-6)

i assume that you mean x squared minus 5 times x - 6

first you put an expression like this (x + )( x- )
because for your last number to be negative you must multiply a positive and a negative.

now you find two numbers that when added add up to -5 and when multiplied are equal to -6 it turns out that the numbers are -6 and 1

so the answer is (x - 6)(x +1)

I clicked on your question because I'm avoiding just doing someone else's homework. Alas, your post is misleading. If you are 'just checking some answers' then it would make sense to post them.

I've taught remedial algebra at a state university. Many of the students in the class got through high school by just copying from others and were 'caught' by an entrance exam that all freshman had to take.
