well i have a clk 320 and it is amazing. it purrs like a tiger and it has never broken down. it is gorgeous. the only downside to the 320 is that it is a 2 door and a pain to get full grown adults into the backseat. however, this car is top quality and has amazing performance. i race cars all the time in it and always win. it has so much power.

Reliability should be roughly the same, the quaity of the clk will be higher, the performance of the clk will be better, the style is completely your preference. I have an 02 c230 kompressor 6sp and it moves pretty well, I wouldn't doubt if it could keep up with the clk. I am not sure about the clk, but the c230's commonly have the 6sp manual tranny, and for me that was a big plus. One other thing you might consider is the price, I got my 02 w/ 35k mi for about 15k, and it has all the goodies and is in excellent condition. So i guess it comes down to how much you want to spend on the car.

Go with the CLK in terms of performance and style... the C230 is a tiny little guy with low performance - truly the "entry level" mercedes. If you want to be happy with your car, the CLK is a beauty and a beast in the same car!
Both will be equally reliable, and have high quality... although the CLK will have nicer amenities obviously. Go CLK!

I have a 01 CLK with 58k miles and without a doubt go with the CLK. The 230 is a 2.3 liter four banger, the 320 is a 3.2 liter six cylinder (horsepower - CLK). The 230 is essentially a hatchback. My CLK has enough trunk room for 2 - 12" subs, 1000 watts, and I still have enough room for my golf clubs (trunk space - CLK). The 230 will make you look like your mommy bought it for you for college. The CLK says I'm up and coming, next stop E-class (style - CLK). In my opinion the CLK is the one to have hands down.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Both automobiles are fine pieces of machinery The only difference is that the CLK is a little more upscale while the C230 is more practical. Both cars have great resale value. Just choose which make you truly prefer.

i own a shop ,and i have a friend that has the 230 sport coupe,,and id go with it,,its better all way around for performance and reliability,,and the style of it inst bad either,,not much room in it,,but its a real sweet ride,,the day he bought it,,he left the light,s on the first day ,and killed the battery in it,,other than that there reliable,,but i think you,d like 230 a lot better as far as driving,,and especially on handling,,the really do hold the road good,,you should drive a 230 ,there's a lot of ride there for the money,,just don't leave the lights on,,good luck ,let me know what you buy,,have a good x-mas.
