You lucky s.o.b. I'm planning on retiring there myself, but thats still a while away. I've been going to Angeles City in Pampanga for 5 years now. Life there is different. Most western products will be German. There is a German delicatessen on Fields Avenue. I think its called Brito's, but now sure. There is a duty free warehouse on the former Clark air base. You can get most any western product there in bulk. Restaurants I recommend are Good Fortune (Chinese), and Rib Eye (Steak joint). There are some others on the Clark, but not sure of their names. If you need medical attention I recommend Angeles University Hospital. There is a VFW post in Angeles, and I recommend you register with them if your a veteran. The best advise I can give is to remember your not in the U.S., and things operate differently.

I was born and raise in Angeles City, Pampanga. Our province is a nice place to stay specially the people around. Yes it is true that we kapampangans are really good cooks and of course hospitable. I was just wondering where in Pampanga are you gonna stay? Do you plan to live in the city? Just for instance, Angeles City is a nice place to live and retire there. There is a lot of places that I am sure you will enjoy and feels like you are at home. Also there are a lot of good hospitals and doctors. And if you plan to marry in the Philippines make sure you have all the documents that you need. The prices of the goods in there are kinda cheap compare to PA but now they have sales tax. I hope you will enjoy your stay in Pampanga. Welcome kabalen.

I pray when you move to the Philippines if you have the money to pay cash ($65,000) for a new home you will not rape the poor and take advantage of them by paying your housekeeper only $50 a month. That is not even minimum wage in the Philippines. One of the problems is some expatriates come to the country and exploit the people because they are poor. What a disgrace! I also do not advise you be extravagant in the amount you pay because if you should leave the people cannot find a job to replace the extravagant salary they have grown accustom to. Be fair with the people and you will find your life in the Philippines will be far more pleasant.

Do not come with unrealistic expectations. You are coming to a Third World Country. It is not PA. Life can be good if you are willing to adapt. If you come comparing everything to back home then prepare not to be happy. In most instances you will find if you treat people with dignity, respect and fairness they will go out of their way to make your stay in the Philippines a great experience.

I was born, grew up and educated in Pampanga. Being the case,I could speak well for my hometown. I assume PA is place in the US, so culturally, you can adapt easily in Pampanga as it had hosted American military base for ages (Clark Air Force base until 1991). Its proximity to Subic Naval Base also contributed to the American cultural influence.
Pampanga is among the most progressive provinces in the Philippines. Its economy comprised both the agriculture and

My father just bought a home there to retire in and he says that life is good there because it is so cheap compared to the U.S. but you need to get used to see poor people. I mean poor like you have never imagined. My dad hired a live in nanny who takes care of his newly adopted baby and she does the grocery shopping and cleans the house and cooks the meals for $50 a month! He paid in cash for his 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house with maid quarters for $65,000. It is beautiful.
