Do you see words in your head when you think about what someone said or do you see the person talking? Probably the same for those who use sign language.

well I am not deaf but I grew up with a girl that was and she taught me sign language and when I think about it I do both. So I'm sure if they can't hear at all then they probably would. That is a very good question I'll have to ask her that next time I see her.

That would depend on if they have ever heard words. Not everyone who uses sign language is actually totally deaf, or has been deaf from birth.

The experience is more like how reading words work (at least for me). But I hear perfectly fine. So I dont know about someone who has been deaf since birth.

no. Just like you don't see little words in your head when you think about what someone is telling you.
