Well if you are looking at "top quality morgans" then they will most likely be registered already. When horses are registered the owners usually like to take part of the sires name and mix it with part of the dams name. If you are planning on showing then you will be using his registered name. When people talk about show names versus stable names they are really talking about registered names versus their names that they call their horses on a regular bases.
For Example: My horses sires name is Smashed Casanova and his dams name is Added Sugar. His breeders named him Smashed Romeo. That's how most people like to do it. My horses show name (or registered name) is Smashed Romeo but I use his stable name (the name I use on a regular bases) to call him Romeo.

well, chances are, if you are buying a quality morgan foal, it's already registered and thus has a show name.
but, if not, i'd take a look at your horse's bloodlines. thoguh, i don't know if people in the 'morgan industry' incorportate the words within the sire's, dam's, etc names...
however, when giving barn names to our horses, we tend to figure out what suits them; seems like a name just comes to your head after establishing a bond.
good luck!

What strikes your fancy? This is what you should name your horse. A name I choose, may be more meant for me and not you. I have seen some very UNUSUAL names for show horses. It is all dependant upon what you like and what you think fits the horse.
