I mean, most people say, they have no problem with people outside their race, but they "prefer" to date some one inside their race.....Personally I think its a bunch of raccist, or afraid-of-change- bs. Race shouldn't matter, and in such a "tolerant" country as the U.S of A. What do you think?

I don't know why dating outside of ones race is a big deal. I think it is more acceptable in the north than in the south. For me personally when deciding on who to date, I could careless about a person's race as long as they're kind, nice and just a fun person, race just shouldn't matter.

the more obvious differences are, the more easy it is to get caught up in them.

as for myself, differences in race usually means differences in culture and that's a differences that is very hard to overcome. I know absolutely nothing about american black culture getting into a relationship with someone from that culture would take a lot of work that probably isn't worth it.

by the way:
racism means thinking a race is BETTER than another. don't use the term just because they're treated differently. the term that means treating a group of people differently is discrimination. use that one. I don't like it when people misuse those terms.
oh and while we're on it:
prejudice is just thinking differently about a group of people. (usually negatively). descrimination is prejudice in action.

Maybe you are too young to know, but back in the day,
people were giving their lives over things like this.
The fear of what can happen to your kids has just carried over.
Parents look forward to a grandchild that will represent
their family heritage. The less pain their child has to go through
to accomplish this the better.
Yes, there are some that just can't accept the differences in other races. It's too bad, it has changed some, just not enough.
It's certainly a good question..food for thought. God Bless

I totally agree with you. My boyfriend is a different race, but no one really knows in my family yet because 1) we just started dating and 2) I think most of my family is going to hate it.

I really don't care what they think, though. Right now, it is a long distance relationship, so they can't know what a wonderful and sweet guy he really is.

I don't see why it should be a problem either. Love is love, race should not be a problem.

I am a Caucasian woman and I have been in a wonderful 3 year relationship with a Chinese-American man. His family and my family are both accepting. I love him so much, we don't think about our race. : )

is it a big deal? I know a lot of people who are married with mixed races. From all walks of life: pastors, missionaries, etc. And I don't here about objections. Could it be your are projecting something from 40 years ago?
I think if people from different cultures marry, they need preparation to understand well how the other person's cuolture affects their thinking. But that shouldn't prevent the intercultural marriage - just understand what is happening. Interracial marriage isn't an issue at all.

racist it is not in most cases. when a guy sees a hot girl with any guy he feels a little jealous regardless of his color. race is just used as an excuse(pride i guess). and tolerance of everything is a disaster in the making, you see to be tolerant of everything, means you have to tolerate the racism, you have to tolerate hate, you have to tolerate the fact that people are intolerant. its an endless cycle, im sorry, this p.c. world we are creating is going to destroy our beautiful country. a country where EVERYONE is free to succeed!! p.s. people should date whomever they wish, love knows no boundaries : )

I ask myself that all the time.....there are still alot of people that just are not comfortable with it....why? I don't know, I just think they are scared about what other people say more than how they would feel about dating someone outside of their race...just bogus....
