It took me a good 2 weeks to feel slightly better, and then a whole 2 months to finally be more of myself and not have so much pain. But I still got pains for the entire first year- dull pains here and there where my incision is... they just came here and there. I know how you feel though- my son was 9lbs 10oz at birth, and yes, it REALLY hurt just holding him... what I did was laid him next to me on a pillow and cuddled with him for the first week... then i'd put him on my chest... but be careful, because you will definitely feel the pull when you move around too much. It gets better with time.... what I did also- and in the hospital, was had the white hospital blanket (you can use any blanket), and roll it up in a line... use that to put pressure on your inscision... and then even when you walk, put it there to keep that pressure there- I did that for a few weeks, and it helped me sooo much because if it wasn't there, it felt like I was cut in half!

Goodluck, and congrats on your healthy baby :) I know I said in the hospital I could never do that again... but they bring soooo much joy to your life, it really makes me want another! Just wait until she starts giving you kisses and hugs! OH my goodness, my son melts my heart :)

I had a c-section in August, and I had to have help 24/7 for the first 7 days (I left the hospital after only 42 hrs, because I really wanted to be at home) I had a very difficult c-section (they still had to use the vaccumm and forceps to get him out, and it took 40 mins of pulling-and they had to put me under general anesthesia) so I don't know if the severe pain is also because of that, or just the regular pain of a c-section. I was in pretty severe pain for about 10 days, but even now, 4 mths later, I still have (very very very minor) pain every now and then, and numbness around the incision site.

It actually took me about 2 1/2 months before I felt "normal" again.

I had a C-section in June and I remember thinking the same thing - feeling like it would be forever until I could really take on the full responsibility of being a Mom. Holding, cuddling, cleaning, changing, feeding, lifting. It does take a while. And allow your body the time it needs to heal. Don't push it... Listen to your body and follow your doctor's orders. Everyone's body is different. Gradually, little by little, you'll increase your abilities. A good idea is to set yourself a small goal each day. Today I want to hold the baby while sitting up in the bed. Or today I want to hold the baby while sitting in a chair. Today I want to stand and hold the baby for 10 seconds. Today I want to hold the baby and walk 2 steps. Little by little and bit by bit you'll get there.
It can be a difficult time. Being a new mother is emotional without all the added concerns of a c-section. Moreso after major surgery. If you feel frustrated and feel like having a good cry, allow yourself that. Then get on with getting stronger so you can enjoy your new baby! Good luck! And enjoy being a Mom, it's wonderful!

I had two of them. The pain while I was in the hospital was unbearable and that is another reason why I kept my son with me as much as possible. I don't think he spent an entire night in the nursery for the week we were there. They say that getting up and out of bed and moving will help you. They say you are stiff but I didn't feel any better until I got home and could do my own stuff.

Good luck with the baby. She may not know it but this will be a very special Christmas for you.

Personally I've never had c-sections, but 3 of my sisters did and they all used a girdle (i think it's called...the velcro ones) every day and they say that helped them a lot. It helped the stomach from moving so much and kept good pressure on it. It will also help to bring your tummy down faster and keep your shape as your body tries to go back to it's pre-pregnancy shape. Of course, all the pain medication (recommended by your ob) you can get your hands on. Don't overwork yourself or try to do too much. You may end up opening the incision.

If you are breastfeeding take 600 mlg of Motrin (I think that's 3 of them) if you are not breastfeeding ask the doctor to prescribe Tylenol 3 (T3). Pain could last up to 2-3 weeks then there is still some pain after that but a little less.

I had a son that was 11lbs. 4.4oz, I had a C-section, I felt better when I came home, its different for everyone though, You will feel a little discomfort for a week or two after. But I dont think the pain should still be bad, if its still bad in another week , I would go to the doctor.

i've got had 2 C sections, 2 years aside- the final one replaced into 8 months in the past. One through fact after 2 days of hard paintings, my son have been given caught interior the delivery canal. If i did no longer have it, he or i does not have made it. My 2nd son replaced into breech, so I had no selection with that the two. Mine weren't undesirable in any respect- discomfort for the 1st few days, yet i replaced into able to stroll around after an afternoon and carry my infant no undertaking. you're no longer meant to strengthen something heavier than your infant for 6 weeks or you ought to open up your stitches (or staples). I basically took tylenol (allergic to ibuprofen) after some week of discomfort meds and that i replaced into fantastic! the biggest undertaking I had replaced into being constipated and not "going" for some week. good success and Congratulations!

Mine took a couple of weeks to feel better. I remember it was like two weeks after my csection and I could finally roll over in the bed by myself. I was so excited. I had trouble holding my baby too. She was only 6lbs. I used to cross my legs and hold her on my legs. Watch their feet though, it only took her one time kicking me in the stomach for me to watch her. Don't worry. Take your pain pills as needed and your Ibuprofen. The more you get up and move around the better you'll feel.
