Let the length of the sign = X +4 & the width X
X*(X+4)=25
X^2+4X=25

Use the quadratic equation to solve

3.4 width 7.4 length

Proof: 3.4*7.4= 25.2 sq m

if the width of the rectangle is "x" then the length is 4 meters more or "x + 4". Since area = length times width, it should make sense that:

25 = x ( x + 4). If I multiply the factors on the right side of the equation this becomes:

25 = x^2 + 4x. Now since this is a quadratic equation (that means it has a power of 2 for the x term) you need to move the 25 to the right side of the equation.

0 = x^2 + 4x - 25.

Now I would recommend using the quadratic formula to solve your equation where a = 1, b = 4, and c = -25. That will give you a value of x = 3.385. So the width is about 3.4 and the length is about 4 more than that or 7.4.

Let w= width
Then w+4 = length
So area = w(w+4) = 25
w^2 + 4w -25 =0
w = [-4 +/- sqrt(4^2 +4*25)]/2
w =[ -4 +/- sqrt(116)]/2
w = [-4 +/- 2sqrt(29)]/2
w= -2 +/- sqrt(29)
w= -2 +/- 5.4
w= -2+5.4=3.4 m^2 =width
w+4 = 7.4 m^2 = length

w(w + 4) = 25
w^2 +4w - 25 = 0
w = (- 4 ± √(16 + 100))/2
w = - 2 ± √(4 + 25)
w = - 2 ± √29
w = 3.4 m
l = 7.4 m

l*w = 25.16 m^2

(x)(x+4)=25
x^2+4x=25
x^2+4x-25=0
from there you can use the quadratic formula
