It depends on which state you live in. The age of consent varies from state to state.

NO

As long as there is no sex involved if the 16 yr old is still classified as a minor you are fine.

And as for those who are saying things about statutory rape, that depends on where in the world you are and on what the relationship is.

Age of consent in UK is 16 so the partners would be able to do whatever they liked, age in other places is 18 so they would have to wait.

But there is no suggestion in the question that this is a sexual relationship at present so there is NOTHING AT ALL ILLEGAL in it

If you live in the United States, then yes, it is definitely illegal. A 16 yr old is considered a minor. A 20 yr old is considered an adult. So if the 2 of them have an intimate relationship, the older of the 2 could be charged with statutory rape, or molestation.

Some states/counties (mostly on the east side of the US) have the age of consent as low as 14, while others have it as high as 21. Depends on where you live. Check out the link below, it'll tell you the AoC for all 50 states.

It is statutory rape, provided you and the 16 year old have parents permission, then you are off the hook. if the parents aren't in favor, I'd be careful, the parents may get upset and call the cops.Keep it on the DL as long as you can. Some may think this is bad advice, but who's kidding who, as if that is going to stop you too from being together. Just be careful and good luck

16 years old is 2 years under the age of consent (unless you're in a select few Southern states). 20 years old is 2 over. Two and two adds up to statutory rape if you do the deed.
