I would call neurontoxins a poison, alcohol is a poison.

Maine is said to be devoid of venomous (aka poisonous) snakes though according to some there have been sightings in the southwestern part of the state. I wish I'd had the time to go looking while I lived there. You can purchase a book from the State of Maine (Reptiles and Amphibians in Maine) which list crotalus horridus as being a possible resident of Maine, at the least it once was. There are no venomous snakes in Alaska except those kept as pets or for exhibit.

Let's not get too hung up on poisonous vs. venomous. I know the difference but you're missing the point of the question. If ya don't know don't answer.

Maine and Alaska are both devoid of pois.... er... VENOMous snakes, and they are the only states in the USA that still hold this distinction. Hawaii has no indigenous snakes, but recently the venomous Brown Tree Snake has managed to stow away with ships and planes and now inhabits some of the islands as an introduced/naturalized species.

Poisonous snakes are native to every state except Alaska, Maine, and Hawaii.

Firstly, the term poisonous is incorrect, it would be venomous. This is because poison is man made and if you drink it (even if u don't have any cuts in your mouth or any alsers in your stomach) you will die, With venom, if you drink it and have not cuts in your mouth or stomach (so the venom has no way of getting onto your bloodstream) you will not die, it will just pass through. But I don't mean that everyone should go and drink venom because more than likely you have a cut in you mouth or sore in your stomach :-)
Secondly, Alaska, as said above, would have no snakes as it is far too cold for a snake to survive there, but i'm not from America so I wouldn't know for sure......I know this doesn't really answer your question fully but I hope you learnt something new.
Take care
:-)

Alaska. Hawaii is getting tree snakes from Guam in incoming flights. The tree snakes attack the bird population. In some areas you can't even hear birds chirping or singing. Snake-detecting dogs are now at the Honolulu airport. They are nasty looking, yellow eyes, and brown. Hawaii has a large mongoose population. Hopefully, that will help.

It used to be Hawaii. However, some brown tree snakes have been found there recently. They evidently hitched a ride on airplanes or cargo. I sure hope they keep them from establishing there--they've done a number on the wildlife on Guam since they were carried over from the Phillipines. Brown tree snakes are venomous and difficult to control.

Alaska..... I live in Canada, and even our rattlers in the southern areas of the provinces BARELY have any venom. Any snake any further north than the badlands area of Alberta is nonvenomous. Garter snakes is pretty much all we've got. So Alaska, I'm willing to bet, hasn't got much more than garters too.
