My husband and I went about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was strange and did not understand it. It was beautiful to look at though. Any thoughts on this movie? What was it about? I still don't know!

Tomas was a fictional character in his wife's story. Tommy and Tom were the same guy. So there's only one character to follow. He kept eating the tree of life above her grave until he could deliver it to the nebula to save her. It died. So the only chance he had of seeing her again was to die also. So he finished the last chapter with Tomas getting killed by the flowers. But who knows, maybe the nebula resurrected them both. Or maybe the nebula was really Heaven the whole time.

I saw the movie The Fountain and thought it was a brilliant and touching movie. The acting and the writing are superb. The film moved me to tears - it is about a man's eternal struggle to save his wife from an eventual death. The story involves one man: from a 16th-century conquistador (Tomas), to a modern day scientist (Tommy), to a 26th-century astronaut (Tom). Thomas comes to terms with life and death. The tree of life was symbolic in this film.
