Not really sure what that is but I was told that what it sounds like is going on with my computer. How does this happen? This is a new computer and its still under warranty.

Whoever told you that it needs to be demagnetized is playing with you.
I have worked on computers for many years, and that just does not happen with floppy drives, they do however sometimes require cleaning, but not when they are that new, unless a very dirty floppy was placed into it.
It sounds to me like you are confused with cassette decks and possibly old 8 track home or car stereos.

Somebody is feeding you a line, you know, like muffler bearings and a skyhook.

If you are really worried about your floppy just buy a new one, they are only about $20.
