Chances are this is a memory protection fault that is caused when an application attempts to reference a memory location outside of its allocated and allowed space. This is often from a bug in the program involving dynamic memory allocation. This is often called a GPF, general protection fault, and is unrecoverable, so the typical action is to terminate the program so it doesn't damage other running processes that own that memory space. Reboot your machine and let everything start up fresh and see if it keeps happening, if so, either the new software you downloaded is picking up on something another application shouldn't be doing, or the new software itself is not working properly and you might have to uninstall it.
