Red ear sliders come from north america. My husband and I had one for awhile. We had a large 50 gallon tank with half water and half rocks. We also had a heat lamp for him to sit under also. We fed him live fish. Was fun but a lot of work to clean after!

They are from the Midwest. This fall I saw one sitting on a tree stump in the middle of lake Galena. You should definately look up all of the specifics, because other people telling you what to do won't be as rewarding as you doing it. You can also make some important choices on what habitat elements to use. Enjoy!

We live in Texas. While driving home one day, a baby RES turtle was crossing the road. We took it home, not ever seeing one before. It started out so cute, we loved watching it in the tank, and loved to feed it, but that lasted about one year. At that point, I would've given anything for someone to take it to their house. Turtles, like guinea pigs, are crap machines!!

RES come from the US, they are common and they do live in areas that get cold - so they hibernate in the winter
why don't you look them up yourself so that you can care for them properly?

they're from north america, the midwest region. they grow as big as a large dinner plate. i have one and she grew from tiny to melon size very quickly. you should house her in a minimum 40 gallon tank.
