Is it necessary to take a pregnancy test only after your expected set period date? Are there any special precautions when taking the test?
Thanks for your time.

You can take firtst response or clear blue to get a result 3-5 days before your missed period, but be fore warned that the earlier you take it before your period is supposed to come the least accurate it is. Say you do it 3 days before you period is supposed to come. You have a 55% chance of getting a "pregnant" reading then if you were to take the test the day before your period onset, therefore your percantage would have a 92% chance of reading "pregnant". My best advice would be to wait it out to the day of your period, I know its stressful, but you will get a better reading then and loose less money from the amount of tests you buy. Or you could get a Clear Blue and get the bonus test take one at any given time, if it comes out negative, there is always a second test you could save till the day of your period, same amount for one test, but with two!

Best of luck to you!

If you want immediate answers to if you are pregnant or not and you have not missed a period yet then the only accurate way to know is by going to the doctor and getting a blood test. Even health departments can do this kind of test now.

I was always under the impression that there is no chance for a false positive but I have personally seen it happen to two of my friends. The first one was actually taking the HCG shot to get pregnant so that is why hers came up positive because that is what the test is looking to detect. The second one never really figured out if her hormones were out of whack or if she miscarried and never knew it. I think you might be pregnant. I know this sounds easier than it says but DON'T PANIC, you will be fine and everything will work out, it always does. Definitley call the doctor and get the blood test done to be sure.

First response pregnancy test you can take as early as 5 days before your missed period. Other than that one I'm not sure about others.

no precautions, but the best results are the first morning pee. The at home test has to be after missed period (at least one day after.) The doctor can tell sooner, either a urine test or blood

There are tests that claim to give you an accurate positive or negative 5 days before your missed period, but in my experience, they're not very reliable. Usually a good rule of thumb is to wait atleast 5 days after you're late. Of course the rules are different for every woman as every woman's body is different. But that has always worked for me.

There are some that you can take ealier 4 days earlier, you are supposed to use the first urine of the day. With me those still said negative I had to wait until I missed my period then I got the positive. If you wait until you have missed your period then it doesn't matter when you take it and it should be pretty accurate.
