Drowning, cause, it won't be as burning as fire, but other people have different opinions.
Fire is pure, so if someone is ever in a situation that needs choosing the type of death, then some people will go for fire, cause it's pure. But me and I believe I can state that most people would prefer drowning.

I have a deathly fear of drowning...somehow the picture of my squishy, air filled, sponge like lungs filling up with anything but air, especially water, freaks the daylights out of me! Fire! Most definitely! I shall give a reason for my answer...no worries, just be prepared for a short essay...anyway, death by fire would be FAR FAR better than death by water or other liquid substance for a particular person like myself. I love candles and bonfires and fire in general, so naturally I can see myself burning something or myself to death. I think that yes indeed it would hurt for a short time but in the end it's all worth it, since I'm not going to wallow in fire for all eternity...

death by fire-- you would pass out from the smoke before you actually started to burn and feel all that pain. drowning takes like 8 minutes and you are fully conscious the whole time. i would rather pass out and then go, it seems more comfortable (if you can say that regarding death)

Drowning, I guess, supposedly you stop wanting to breath and just kind of drift away. Fire would probably hurt the whole time. How do people know these things, anyway?

It seems that you are contemplating between these two ways..........................any way i will choose drowning, cause in case you are saved, you can have a normal and healthy life after that. But if you are saved from fire, no way you will have a normal life.
Importantly, drowning is less painful than fire.

Drowned. Open casket. Besides, death by fire is extremely painful. Unless its a house fire, the carbon monoxide actually kills you.

If I had to choose, drowning. I wouldn't want my lungs incinerated before I passed out and burned to death. Eww.
