This is actually what my doctor told me to do. i was on seasonale, which is the one where you only have 4 periods a year. She switched my kind of birth control, and i told her i really liked only having 4 periods a year, and she said to just skip the white ones. She said that is all seasonale really is. THe only problem i have with it, is every once in a while i will bleed just a little bit. Not much at all, but it is a nucence. But she said that is also fine, and won't do any harm. But, i would still ask your doctor to make sure it is okay for you, and for the kind of pill you take.

In my pills, the inactive ones are green, and the ones containing medicine are blue and white. So if I'd just taken the green pills (7/pack) I'm sure I'd have been pregnant many times by now.

What brand are you using? Or, here's a thought, read the directions in the freaking pack. If the pill is marked as placebo, or sugar pill, or something indicating non-drug-containing, you can skip it with safety. If you start the next pack immediately, you will miss your period. Or if you just skip the days, you will have a period. Up to you.

First it depends on what kind of pills you're on. We really need the name brand or generic name. Generally speaking you don't just want to skip around unless you talk to your doctor.

However, you can talk to your doctor about the possibility of continuous cycle birth control. If you are on a monophasic pill, this is commonly done by not taking the last 7 pills with are just place holders (placebo) to remind you when to start your next pack. Many women especially ob-gyn residents do this to keep from having periods for extended amounts of time.

You need to talk to your doctor about this before doing it as you will need more pills during the year.

Technically, yes. It is my understanding that the 7 or so pills at the end of the pack are placebos and their purpose is to keep you on track. I was often lazy about taking those and most of the time it was fine but occasionally i'd lose track and start back a day or two late. Not a good idea if you don't want to take any chances of getting pregnant.

NEVER EVER rely on the color of pills to ask questions or report type of drug.
Every single brand of birth control pills are a different color. You need to ask your pharmacist or doctor.
During the week of your period the point is to take the pills to keep the habit up.

Tempest said it right.

I'm no doc, but it'd be best not to skip anything and stay on schedule. However, it's best to ask your doctor about anything in like of birth control.

You don't have to take the last row - they are sugar pills....just to keep you in a habit of taking 1 pill everyday. You don't have to take them if you don't want to.
