Has anyone else experienced pressure and stress in your romantic relationship at this time of year? There are a lot of expectations. For instance, my boyfriend hasn't been able to make it to family gatherings because he just got a job and can't get off work. It can look bad to my family, even though it's not like that. He and I also can't spend Christmas together.

Gifts are a tight expectation too for couples who are struggling financially. I'm just now (less than a week before Christmas) starting to let go of some of that stress as things that we don't have control over right now. But it has caused quite a lot of tension for us over the past month. Anyone else experience such difficulties? How do you deal with them? What is your opinion? Thanks.

No, if two people are truly comfortable with each other, then there wouldn't be a pressure or stress of finding the right item. You already have it ... each other.

If money is tight, opt not to get each other anything, both of you join amounts and buy an item that you need for your place or that you can use together.

Money is an issue and family is an issue but getting down should be your way of relieving that stress. Take it all out on your man and you will both feel better. Get some kind restraints and tie him up and whoop his ***. You will begin to love the holiday season!

His family has always been a major stressor in our relationship. When we start talking about his family and holidays in the same sentence, we really start having issues.
