15 minutes from Shea here. A typical New York accent is one where we tend to put the sound "aw" into various words like "New Yawk", "Cawffee", "Tawk". We also tend to put the letter "a" at the end of a word that ends in "er" like paper becomes "Papa" (that's Paypa). So being a "New Yawka" isn't easy :)
By the way, I really don't like the accent and I've done my best to get rid of it but I just can't completely get rid of it.

Depends mostly on the borough. Manhattanites come from about everywhere, so they don't really have one.
Otherwise, yeah, pretty gruff and sharp. Note: Long Islanders do not have NY accents.

i'd say it was verey street andand has alot of attitude...me living in New York for 25 years..would no...very tough and assertive
