The name capitalist was given by the communist.
You meant the name implies good or bad?
Negative. In China, about 30 years ago, a capitalist meant a person who exploited workers. After reform and opening, a capitalist meant a person who is capable to mass wealth together.
In the west, no one pays attention to this name.

A capitalist is a business person (like most Americans) who has some money and invests the money into such things as a business, a stock, a mutual fund, a new invention, service job, etc.... The capitalist is hoping to gather a profit from his hard work and spending on more investments . He can take some of the profit for his own use and buy products and invest the remainder to make a profit again.

The opposite economic mode is the Socialist/communist economy where the government owns all all the means of production/industries. The government becomes the capitalist and owns the manufacturing, business and services. You work for the government and no individual accomplishment is rewarded. This system is flawed because of human nature. The bureaucrats become the greedy capitalists and the workers have no way of accumulating wealth.

Human nature is all the same. We all like to sucede and make money.
If a business is successful it creates jobs for many and by creating jobs, more money is created when these workers spend their hard earned income on their dally needs. food. rent a car and if any money left they will by a luxury or invest in a mutual fund.

In a capitalist society the individual controls the use and expend their money as they see appropriate. All this spending creates the need for more products. More products require more workers. Thus creating more jobs and wealth.

Capitalism is a system of economics in which everything is pretty much privately owned and nobody is regulating who owns what. So a capitalist would be someone who believes in this economic philosophy or practices it (or both).

I think some aspects of capitalism are good and some are bad. Capitalism would be ideal if: We all started out equal from birth, we had 100% employment and if we could not make money just by having more money.

The biggest problem is not capitalism or communism, it is concentration of power, whether communist or capitalist...

The Webster dictionary calls a capitalist a person who invests in a business. Is it a good thing? I guess that depends on who you are asking, I know a democratic government is necessary for capitalism to work. I feel it only perpetuates greed.

Capitalism is the belief in the least amount of restrictions (and many times no restrictions) as possible. Less regulations and taxes on business and people. Most believe that capitalism not only allows for the greatest capability of their own prosperity . . but the entire market/society.

I think capitalism is the best economic philosophy (atleast that I have heard of) but is best coupled with social freedom. Both of these allow for the most peaceful and prosperous society. I think this can be observed (many times in the past and now, in the present).

Whether it is good or bad depends on the individual that you ask. A communist or anti-capitalist would obviously say they are bad.

capitalism is the only fair economic system, as it depends on self interest, which is the best reason for doing anything. you are responsiblr for your own actions, not for the actions of others. if you are lazy or stupid, you may not excell, but then why should you. if you risk your own money, and you suceed, you are rewarded, which is the way it should be
