There are a few options.......1. Use the usb cable method. 2. Use an external hard drive, it will back up all your files, as well as let you transfer them to your laptop. 3. You could burn your files to a disk and transfer them that way. Here are just a few options.

Yes, if you are using XP, then the Files and Transfer program will work, but you need a data transfer cable, I get em off of ebay for .99 cents, or get Norton Ghost, and copy the files from one to another. Good Luck

Get a USB male to male cable and plug it in both ends. Then connect. Viola! Access to hard-drive with USB speeds.

set up a home network. and make sure you dont have live onecare on your computer its a microsoft program and it will not let access to the network trust me. when you get the network on both computers set up (in which u can do using your OS installation CD and going to show more options one the load up screen and clicking set up home or small office network) then u can access files on both computers by going to my network places. which can be found in either control panel. or running windows xp usually on start screen and if not there its on the left side panel on the my computer folder screen. good luck.
