I've had this ball python for two years and I've tried to rouse him several times but to no avail. He hasn't eaten for about five to six weeks and he didn't respond to any of the mice when I fed him.

try uncoiling him and see if he returns back into the ball. if he doesn't he may be dead. you may be able to feel a pulse at around 1/8 its length from its head

i in my view hate snakes, yet i think of the others answering your question are being too frustrating on you. it seems which you have taken stable care of him for the previous 5-6 yrs. it particularly is unquestionably very sensible to maintain an animal in its organic ecosystem (exterior) if in any respect achieveable as they are happier. you do no longer say the place you reside or how chilly it gets interior the iciness there, yet he has apparently thrived interior the exterior aquarium in winters' previous. I trust the others so which you could in all possibility take him indoors to heat him up and notice in case you could hit upon circulate. If there is not any circulate, or you start to observe a terrible smell, then he's lifeless (he could additionally start to have a dry "deteriorated" look.) you apart from would do no longer point out his age - possibly he's purely old? stable success. next time get a field turtle, they are plenty greater exciting!

all reptiles hibernate or go through a burmitation if the encloser is cold enough... basically they go to sleep till it warms up ... right now snakes are in a breeding season and they tend not to eat around this time ..some do but just smaller meals ... whats the temps in ur encloser ?? if the temps are low then try to turn it up around 80c .... is there any signs of breathing...even just a little ?? if so try to pick him up.. but i would check ur temps first ...he might get piss off if u wake him b4 u turn up the temps

You need to bring the snake to a veteranian and run some tests like a cat scan and later get the lab results.

there is an extremely peculiar odor from dead reptiles/snakes...if the enclosure doesn't smell and there is some type of 'humidity in the tank...IT'S STILL ALIVE and just resting! if he hasn't eaten for awhile, perhaps other eatables are finding their way into his tank!

If your snake is dead he will be stiff. If when you pick it up he goes limp then he is not dead

If he's limp and squishy, he's dead. If he's stiff as a board, he's dead. If he's somewhere in between those, give him a day, and if he's not squishy or stiff by then, he's still hanging in there.

Is the snake limp? Do you notice any breathing or tongue flicking at all?

if its dead it should be giving off a nice odour by now i would think you would smell it rotting. Turn up the lights/temp and pick it up.
