I went in for a doctors appountment today. By 12 weeks I had gained 5 pounds. Today I had gained 4 more pounds. So I've gained 9 pounds total in 18 weeks. Is this about right or have I gained to much? I was normal weight at the time of conception by the way.

I know that everyone is different. In my pregnancy book it says that the 1st trimester you will gain 2 pounds and 4 pounds per month after that. I am 18 weeks one day and have gained 7 pounds so pretty close to you. I don't think you should worry too much just keep eating healthy. Some women gain lots and the beginning and hardly any toward the end and some are the opposite. Congrats! We will have our babies about the same time!

Everyone is differnt. I gained 17 poiunds out of my entire pregnancy and I went 5 days past due. My best friend gained 19 with twins and had them at 36 weeks. My sister-in-law gianed 40 pounds. If your doctor isn't concerned then don't worry about it. The say on average you'll gain between 25 to 35 pounds. I had a health baby 7 pounds 5 ounces 20 1/2 inches. Try not to worry about it. I think you're doing fine.

The way you sad "I was normal weight at the time of conception" thats hilarious.

Anyways about your question...I really wouldn't worry about how much weight you gain uness you gain alot like 20 pounds in one month. Becuz then there might be something wrong. Like preeclampsia. I've gained 27 pounds so far. If I was you I wouldn'tworry about how much you gain just eat healthy and do light exercise. You will gain from 25 to 35 pounds reguardless.

as far as i know weighing 25-35 pounds is normal at the end of your pregnancy before you deliver. the last two weeks can make a difference on whether you gain weight due to stress or other preg related issues. as for your question, you are on track. youve gained about 2pds per month or so. you will most likely gain about 25-35pds and thats not bad. you will be fine after pregnancy. also if you plan on nursing you will lose the baby fat even quicker.
