For me, it was both. My nipples hurt so bad, I hated putting my bra on b/c the fabric touching them would KILL me. Also, my entire breast was tender, like you said-it felt like I had done too many dumbell fly reps. :) It does go away, though. Right around the second trimester.

Mine were achy, tingly and very sensitive, like I didn't want anybody to touch them. But it wasn't like that all the time. Those crazy hormones, aren't they a pain in the ***.

With my first baby my breasts were like bowling balls, I had to wear a bra to bed! With my second very little change and my third ( a miscarriage) they didn't change at all.

Have you ever had too much coffee and have your boobs hurt? That is what it was kinda like for me. They were sore like muscle sore and it hurt to touch them.
