I have never been induced but I have heard that it is not bad.
I got this Info for you it states that it is painless

One way to induce labor is to drain the amniotic fluid (the liquid that surrounds the fetus). To "break the bag of water," the doctor will make a small, painless incision in the membranes of the amniotic sac.

If draining the fluid does not trigger labor, you may receive an injection of the hormone oxytocin, which stimulates uterine contractions. However, one in 50 injections of oxytocin fails to stimulate labor.

If your due date has passed, your doctor may try to induce labor by separating the amniotic membranes from their attachments in the cervix and lower wall of the uterus (called stripping the membranes). There is no risk involved, but you may feel mild cramps or contractions after the procedure

Congrats on the new addition

I was induced with both of mine and I would love to tell you exactly how it happens, but it is different for everyone. I only had to have a pill called cytotec (may be spelled wrong) placed on my cervix and never had to have pitocin. It just sent me right into labor. Most people have to have pitocin through an iv. I had to have my water broke by my doc. both times. My labors both lasted about 10 hours. I hope this helps, but it probably won't. I was nervous the first time and even more nervous the second. Good Luck!!!

I was induced with my daughter. There are many ways they can induce you. It is not scary or anything. They are mainly going to get the contractions started. And then the best part you will have a new baby. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Don't be scared everything is going to be fine. There's nothing to worry about and there's nothing to be scared of. They are going to hook you up to an iv and then insert this little thing that looks like a string into your vagina. They are also going to hook you up to the monitor to look for contractions and to watch your babies heart rate.Getting induced doesn't hurt but the contractions, you know they are like wow! But good luck! I'm due Sunday.

If your cervix isn't ripe they will probably put a prostaglandin gel on your cervix to ripen it. The gel might start your labor then you just go from there. If they don't use gel or it doesn't work they will give you pitocin in your iv. That will start contractions. They will probably start out feeling like menstural cramps and work their way up to labor type pains. If that doesn't work they will probably break your water. Don't worry, it's not bad. I had it done too. Good Luck!

every time I was induced it was very painful, not to scare you but the petocine really makes the contractions come fast and hard, be prepared and have a good support person there with you....good luck!!!! it will all be over and then you will forget all the pain when you get to hold your baby in your arms :)

My wife was for 2 of 3 kids. It hurts for the beginning part because of the Pitocin, but you get to the drug part faster. Get the spinal block, makes everything really easy. Don't get frusterated if they don't go fast at first, it goes fast, the more you rlax and let your body take over, says my wife.

It'll go fast and quite smoothly. I was induced. I didn't want to get out! .... no complications, perfectly healthy baby boy.

And a boy's best friend is his mother. Congratulations!
