I was wondering whether or not shopping at American Eagle Outfitters is a good idea at all, because the prices are so high. Do you think the store is a rip-off based of what you get or is it worth the so-called "quality" surrounding the clothing and its "superiority" to other clothing.

If you compare prices today, American Eagle is cheaper than both Hollister and Abercrombie, while its clothes are of just as good or even better quality. The store isn't a rip-off, believe me. The jeans are of really great quality; i mean, they look like Sevens yet they're a quarter of the price. I'd suggest going now because during the holiday season they have HUGE sales, so a sweater that was $40 or $50 would now be $15. Another thing: their clothes are comfortable and made of real materials. No polyster, but cotton, angora, wool (not the most high-end but still good).
By the way, if you're worried about price, I'd suggest getting an AE pass. It's free, and when you shop there, you get credits for the type of clothes you get. At the end of a shopping quarter, they send you a rewards card that gives you either 10, 20, 30 or 40% off! I'd definitely suggest shopping there.

i used to think the same thing, oh another rip off store.but, its not! if you're worried about hte proce, buy shirts at forever 21, its super cheap. but american eagle has EXTREMELY nice jeans and jackets.and undershirts.
undershirts-since you pull on them all the time, they rip and AEO makes really sterdy stuff.also they're really tight so you can wear te unershirt alot without it getting stretched out.
jeans-they're THE perfect fit.since my first pair from there, i haven't hsopped anywhere else.they're the only ones i fit into.plus they're avarage price.around 50.
jackets- last a loong time.their prices vary but the jackets are really nice.
shirts-wouldn't recommend.these are pretty expensive.
so overall, thsi storre's sale rack is AMAZING.their only cons is that they don't update their styles, so you wait forever.but when they come out wiht a new one, if you want something thats way too expensiive, wait.in a week or so they always go on sale and then it's really worth it.but the hwole quality thing is true.comparing to abercrombie (which is what it's constantly compared to) its better.some of my friends who shop at A&F admit that store's stuff turns to crap in a month.
but American Eagle is like, my life.all my jeans, undershirts, bags, shoes, and jackets are from there.it's amazing.

American Eagle had really good quality clothing. They also are cheaper than Abercrombie and Hollister. If you shop at Abercrombie you might just spend a whole million dollars on jeans. It's worth the quality!!

The clothes are worth it really nice looking and good quality. But no its not superior to others, if you so choose not to spennd alot on clothing then its probably not a store for you. It is though if you care about fashion.

I love AE. It is sooo much cheaper then A&F, Express or Hollister and they're clothes are just as cute. Plus you can usually find shirts and long sleeved shirts for $15-20. Although I usually don't buy any jeans from them. Oh I love their underwear too!! hahaha 5 pairs for $20.

weeeell, the jeans are normally good quality and for a name-brand store they're actually not that expensive, but in general i think that they charge too much for what they're selling, i personally don't think that their shirts are as great a quality as they claim tho, but everything else is pretty good. oh, but if u go to their sale racks, those are usually pretty well priced.

It depends. I think their shirts are too pricey, but their jeans are comparitively at a low price. I would buy jeans from there and shirts somewhere else.
