I would and I have. What you need to remember though is that winning against your buddies and earning a little pocket change is a lot different than paying your mortgage while playing against seasoned players with 20 yrs of experience. Because you can't even set foot in a casino until you are 21 I would set a goal of graduating college by then and saving up a sufficient stake and see what happens. In the mean time study and practice religiously and you just might succeed.

I was very good at poker and did make a living at it for over 10 years. And I wish I could have those 10 years all over again.

If you want to live a totally unsatisfying life without ever impacting anyone in a truly positive way, become a professional gambler. Also you get to hang out with criminals and people who generally neglect their family.

Also its a very difficult and time consuming way to make an easy living. Most players play over 80 hours a week and the financial swings can be horrendous and nerve racking. Every one goes through a rough spot of cards and if you dint win, you dint eat. That might not be too scary to you, but if you have kids depending on you, that is alot of pressure.

Since you have no guaranteed income, most of your money is reserved for bankroll. So while you might have alot of money in the bank, most of that is set aside to finance future play. Banks do not loan money to enter tournaments or games.

I've been a casino manager at every major cardroom in Southern California. I am no longer in the gaming industry and much much happier. I have two children now aged 21 and 18. Neither one has ever been allowed to play at a casino or either visit me at work. I cannot conceive of a bigger waste of your life than becoming a professional gambler. And Ive known most of them.

At the end of the day it is still luck. you can outplay dudd players but after that it is how the cards fall.
