Arguments or sudden detestation may lead to the process of "talking behind one's back". Doing so does not necessarily make two people no longer associated.
We all have talked about our associates without their permission or notice when in anxiety. The next day, your associates are probably apologetic for their actions and that you have found out. It's not really a dumb act.

This sounds like some sort of junior high thing... I remember.
It's just immaturity. The best thing to do is find friends that are a little more grown up. You should not be friends with people that are untrustable! Find friends that you can trust and that you have fun with. Look for people with good values.
