i bought a movie and when i got it home it saids it is a HD-DVD and can only be played on a HD-DVD-PLAYER. I have not opened it and am wondering if it can be played on a regular DVD-PLAYER?

It depends on if the HD-DVD you bought is dual format. Since HD-DVD and DVD are based on the same technology the disc can actually be both DVD and HD-DVD. You just flip it over depending on the version you want to play. So check and see if it says Dual Format anywhere on the packaging, if it does, you can still use it on your good old DVD player. In any case I would return it and get the regular DVD, it will probably save you several dollars.

No. HD-DVD is a different format than the standard DVD. Exchange it for a widescreen DVD. HD-DVD's need to be played on a HD-DVD player. They cost between $600-800.

HD-DVD's are the new format that is high definition (1080p), where standard DVD's are enhanced definition (480p).

sorry but no its a whole different format than what your dvd player can read!! you need a HD-DVD player they are 500 dollars though
