There should be no pain. If there is pain then either the latch isn't good or maybe you aren't supporting the head enough, which can cause the teeth to be more annoying.

I nursed my first son until 11 mo old and my second until 15 mo. Just because they have teeth does not mean you have to give it up. If you are bfeeding and it hurts without the baby actually biting then something isn't right. Maybe she isn't latching on completly. My 11mo. old bit my twice. I told him no took it away for 2-3min and then gave it back. After the second time he never bit again. My second son didn't ever bite me and he had his first tooth at 3 mo. old. Good luck and I hope it helps.

Grit your teeth!! Wish I had a better answer. I am still b/f my tenth month old. The first month was torture. He was not biting they were just scraping. Everytime it happened I would pull him off for a few minutes. I am not sure if he knew what he was doing and quit because he knew if he did it I would take the breast away or .. if my breasts just got use to it because it no longer hurts. It only took about a month for me! Best of luck ... there is hope ahead haha :)

I dont know if i shouldwrite what i taught my baby who is now 9 yrs of age, i B-fed him until he was 5, i thought i would ahve trouble with his teeth, each time he got a new tooth he would bite me so i use to take my nipple out of bub's mouth and say NO and the lightly and gently tap his mouth, he learnt really fast and no more biting until another tooth came along, I figured he just needed to learn where his tooth was, and experiencing the sensation in his mouth. It was a small light light tap dont go smacking your child.

There are some motives, i believe. one may be that there remains a closeness between a breast feeding toddler and his mom, that may proceed for 2 or 3 years, yet almost one hundred% of bottle fed children are feeding themselves their personal bottles by technique of that age, so there isn't any income to persevering with to have a bottle, while the bonding and closeness inclusive of his breastfeeding mom keeps. Secondly, the version between formula and entire cow's milk is minimum (they're both from cows), yet breast milk is really made for human children, for this reason there is an advantage to persevering with to breast feed for a protracted era of time.

I only nursed one of my 3 after teeth. He bit me once. I stopped feeding him instantly. It never happened again. Other than that I never had any problems. Nursed him until his 1st birthday.

go to the store and buy some anbasol for babies...it will soothe the pain by numbing it...or you could try what my parents did for me and out some whiskey on its gums...i am in no way advocating it i am just saying it seemed to work.

there shouldnt be pain. they need to be taught not to bite, when and if they try, you immediately and sternly say NO and take the breast away.. it doesnt take them long to figure out that if they want a boob, they'd better not bite. :)
